We, the signatories of this petition, want to renounce and strongly oppose the ongoing practice of shark finning, as well as the fishing techniques commonly known as ‘long-lining’ and ‘gill-netting’. These techniques, which result in an indiscriminate catch of all marine species, are currently posing a severe threat to the diversity and the sustainability of the Mozambican marine ecosystems.

We hereby appeal to the Government of Mozambique to urgently implement effective and legal measures to prohibit these aforementioned fishing practices in order to guarantee legal protection of the entire shark and ray species that are currently threatened.
It is time that we protect the bio-diversity and the sustainability of the marine wealth of Mozambique.
The time has come to say STOP!
