New Diver churn-lets have some facts: i recently read an American dive article which lamented the fact that more than 80% of newly qualified divers stopped diving after 20 odd dives.Look i understand ''lies, damn lies and statistics'' kick in here but i would love to know the SA stats.Lets look at a few indicators of note. Divestyle has 693 ''likes'' Submerge has 404 ''likes'' lets assume these are all divers, these numbers dont tell the whole truth of course, there are quite a few divesites and FB profiles some have a few thousand ''followers'' but what are the actual numbers? There seems to be a ''core'' of divers who are constantly in the news, contributing etc but very few have contributed on websites or FB , pics stories and/or blog about diving? Is this a sport in SA where new divers notch up a ''been there done'' attitude and move onto other challenges for reasons i cant fathom, or is there something else in the mix like travel costs, time away, etc which prohibits the growth or sustainability of new divers to continue for the love of the sport? I would love input from you guys or from other readers Shane
